"I think besides genetic reasons, I do have certain habits in my daily life, which prevent me from putting on weight easily," said Tian.

Tian said she never forces herself to diet and compared with those girls who are always on a diet, she often researches home cooking and keeps improving the quality of the foods she consumes. Her favorite snacks are baked crispy apple chips and hawthorn sweetened rolls, which she makes herself.

According to a recent report by the International Journal of Obesity, Tian’s words are not rootless. Thin people seem to have several good habits that may make them slimmer than others, including eating, drinking and reading habits.

According to the International Journal of Obesity article, Kaiser Permanente, a US-based medical institution, recently released the results of a survey on the effects health news have on people. The results revealed that people who read health news daily would begin changing their food consumption patterns, eat more healthy foods, lessen their intake of trans-fatty acids, and do more physical exercise approximately 16 weeks after they start to read such information on average.

But Tian warns against believing everything you read. "It is better for one to stick to authorized health information publishers and do not believe and spread rumors such as rice can cause cancer," she said.
